After Saurav Ganguly’s answer to Australia’s Chin-Music in First Test and Dravid Heroics at Adelaide in Second Test and Sehwag’s swashbuckling 195 went in vain in Third Test. Australia won the third test and leveled the series 1-1 in the 4 Test match series. With only one test remaining at Sydney Cricket Ground, India needed to win the last test match to win the series in Australia against Australia.

India batted first and scored a whopping 705/7 decl. with every batsmen getting some runs under thier belts.

Special observation shows the Sachin Tendulkar didn’t played even a single shot towards cover and mid off region. He did this because he was getting caught behind for the last three matches. It shows incredible patience and temperament.

Australia were all out for 474 runs in their first innings with Justin Langer scoring 117 runs and Simon Katich scoring 125.

India didn’t enforce the follow on and scored quick fire 211/2 declared with Rahul Dravid scoring 91 and Sachin Tendulkar Scoring 60.

Australia needed mammoth total of 443 runs to win the match and win the series and India need 10 wickets to get and win a series. But, it was Steve Waugh playing his test last innings of his life was determined to save the match.

I think all of us can agree that, it was hard fought series and nobody hailed India’s performance would give jitters to Australian team so much so as to get them to the brink of loosing a test series at home which had not been achieved after 1992′s famous West Indies Tour ( Heroics of Ambrose 7/1).

Let us all hope that for India’s Tour of Australia 2007-08 we would be able to repeat the same feat or would surpass it by a good mile . Big Jove , we will achieve it.
