How to Increase Torrents Speed – Change Half Open TCP Connection Limit In Windows XP SP3
Few months back, i published a post on How to Optimize Torrent Client for Faster Torrent Download Speeds. The post explained what is Half Open Connection limit in windows and how to increase the torrent download speed by changing half open TCP connection limits on Windows XP SP2.
If you are new to torrent world then you should first check this post How to download movies, software, tv shows and many more using Torrents and then come continue reading this post.
This post shows you How to Optimize Torrent Download speed on Windows XP SP3. (If you are using Windows XP SP2 then read this post Optimize Torrent Client for Faster Torrent Download Speeds)
In Windows XP SP3, changing half open connections limit is not so easy as it was in for Service Pack 2.
There is a patch available to change the half open TCP Connections limit.
After downloading the patch, DO THE FOLLOWING and then only apply the PATCH
The following are the steps to prove that the above patch really works :
- Assume that you are downloading lot of stuff using torrents at a time. If you open Event Viewer in windows, you should see the following message :
Event ID 4226 in Event Viewer that describes TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts
- Download the above TCPIP SP3 Patcher and Execute the patch
- Start downloading using torrents. After few hours check the Event Viewer. I assure you will not see above event id appearing again.
I hope after applying the patch, you can download stuff using torrents a bit faster than before.
If you have any tweak up your sleeve, Just post a comment. If it is working, I will add it in this post.
