Few hours back, I mentioned that Google started a new Gmail feature – Google Buzz. Few minutes back, I logged in to my Gmail and found out that Google Buzz was enabled for me. I am happy to have Google Buzz on my Gmail. But, I am sure there will be some users out there who might not be interested in Google Buzz at this time. They may want it in future but not now.
This post will help for those who don’t want Google Buzz in their Gmail Accounts. I will walk through with few easy steps to Remove / Hide / Disable Google Buzz from Gmail Inbox.
Update: Follow the second method. The below method is not working properly – Turn Off Google Buzz Not Working Properly
How to Remove / Hide / Disable Google Buzz from Gmail Inbox?
Turning off / on Google Buzz feature in Gmail is pretty simple. Login to your Gmail Inbox and go to the Bottom of the webpage. Now you should find a tiny link called Turn off Buzz. Check out the below screenshot.
Click on Turn Off Buzz link…
What if you don’t want to Turn Off Buzz but, just move all Google Buzz notications out of Gmail Inbox. If that is your case then, read below…
Any Google Buzz notification in Gmail will match the Gmail query label:buzz. It means you could actually setup a GMail Filter to keep all Google Buzz notifications out of the Inbox.
How to Filter Buzz Notifications from your Gmail Inbox:
- Login to your Gmail Inbox and Click on Create a filter link in Gmail (you can find on the right hand tip corner).
Click on Create Filter link
- You will see the some text boxes, In “Has the words” text box, enter label:buzz and Click on Next Step. You may get a warning, just click OK Button
- Now, tick the checkbox Skip the Inbox (Archive it) and the click the Create Filter button.
Tick on Skip the Inbox and hit Create Filter button…
You are done. From now Gmail inbox will show Google Buzz.

Thanks for this! I saw Buzz on my Gmail today. I don’t want it in my mailbox, and I hadn’t noticed the option at the bottom to turn off.
I think google buzz is great service so i will not disable it. If you do not mind, please buzz me.
