    Android devices might get infected by Geinimi Trojan


    “Geinimi”, a Trojan is the new security threat in the Mobile world. All devices that run on Android are susceptible to this new Trajan. It is a malware program when gets into Android Mobile can steal personal data and transfer it to the remote servers. It is said that it originated from China.
    Geinimi Trojan threat on Android Devices

    “Geinimi is effectively being ‘grafted’ onto repackaged versions of legitimate applications, primarily games, and distributed in third-party Chinese Android app markets,” Lookout said on Wednesday. “The affected applications request extensive permissions over and above the set that is requested by their legitimate original versions.”

    Lookout also said that Geinimi displays botnet like qualities and is the most sophisticated wireless malware it has seen, and it is not entirely sure what this Trojan is capable of once if it finds a way.

    How Geinimit Trajan steals personal data from Android Devices

    It can create “a malicious ad-network to an attempt to create an Android botnet” and collects device’s unique identifiers such as IMEI and IMSI. Every five minutes it tries to connect to the remote servers and tranfers the sensitive data if connected.

    It is now to be seen how the Android Devices can cope to this threat and avoid being infected by Geinimi Trojan
