    GMail introduces Desktop notifications for emails and chat messages on Google Chrome Browser


    Recently, I shared on How to Add Unread Emails Count Favicon using gmail labs.

    Today, I am going to share one more tip which will help all the Gmail users out there. This tip will only work for Google Chrome Browser.

    Most of us keep checking for important emails in GMail or Chat messages by switching to the tab. But, you don’t need to do any more.

    Desktop notifications for emails and chat messages feature has been introduced in Gmail by google. What it means is that You should see a display pop-ups whenever a chat message or new email arrives. It will be only in Chrome Browser. It is due to HTML5 which is supported by Chrome.

    How to Turn Enable Desktop notifications for emails and chat messages in GMail

    1. Login to Gmail
    2. click on the Settings link in the top right corner of Gmail
    3. Now scroll down to the “Desktop Notifications” section. If you just want to get notified about chat messages, or if you use Priority Inbox and only want to get notifications for important messages, you can customize your settings from there too.

    You are done. From now you should get notified whenever there is a new email message or chat message!
