Web Development – What Are Your Options?

This is a guest post by Alan who blogs at AnimatedWebServices. If you would like to write for NiharsWorld, check our guest posting guidelines.

Web developers and web designers have so many different options today when it comes to the promotion and development of a website. There are so many different places to start promoting a website that people sometimes get lost in the sea of information and, unfortunately, misinformation. Certain strategies are used more than others and it’s really all about finding what works better for you and the site you have.
Web Development – What Are Your Options

The following are some of the main types of site promotion:

    • Social Media
    • Press Release
    • Paid advertising
    • Partner sites
    • Backlinks

    Social media :

It is one of the things that everyone is talking about these days. There’s a lot of discussion of what the best strategy is to monetize these social networks. It’s great because they are free and not only that, but there are HUGE amounts of people on each and every network. Some sites are used to link up with possible customers and some are others are to connect with other professionals in the industry. Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are the main players in the game right now. These sites are used to hopefully find new customers and funnel traffic to your website. Linkedin is a social network geared more towards getting together with other professionals in your industry. This site allows you to find other professionals and possibly partner up with them. Social media is so huge, that there are even courses out today about how to use them to your advantage and how to market with them.

    Press Release :

The internet has changed how press releases work completely. Press releases actually used to be submitted to the press and put in paper and ink. People also didn’t write them as often. Today, companies use press releases every chance they get to release something to the public. Website owners sometimes write press releases for any thing that they possibly can to help get their site out there and in front of the eyes of new potential clients. There are tons of press release services on the internet paid and free. Some paid services offer distribution of your release to sites in their network in order to generate more buzz and activity to your site.

    Paid advertising :

It comes in so many different forms and also lots of different price ranges. Some of the major types of advertising are Pay Per Click (PPC), Pay Per View (PPV), Banner ads, Text Links, Pop ups, and many others. There are new types of advertising platforms coming out all the time and it’s hard to keep up with all the new trends and updates sometimes. Web design has become a big part of advertising for things like banner ads. Banner ads have to have great design these days to get the attention of users and actually get them to click on them.

    Partner Sites :

Reputation from other partner sites can definitely help with the promotion of a website. This is especially good if you can partner with sites that have authority and possibly get links from sites that are already established. You can also get some good traffic to your site if you get in touch with someone who has a mailing list of people who are interested in what your site is about. Finding partner sites that are willing to team up with you can be tricky. Look back at the social media section and remember sites like Linkedin. This is one place where you can find people who are also experts and site owners related to you.

    Backlinks :

They are one of, if not THE most important thing to the success of your site. There are tons of different ways to get backlinks to your site and some are more affective than others. One thing to remember is that not all backlinks are created equal. Established sites with high PR are going to provide more valuable links than new sites that don’t get much traffic or have any PR. Techniques of getting backlinks include but are not limited to social bookmarking, guest blogging, link exchanges, video marketing, article marketing, web 2.0 sites like squidoo or hubpages, and much more.

There’s also the idea of simply creating something great. Make a great website; make something people want to link to. This can also fall under the category of link baiting. This is when you create an article or something with the intention of it being so compelling, controversial, or great that people just want to link to it and spread it around. This can be a very effective approach and can cause websites to spread virally.

Be careful with your backlink building efforts. Search engines don’t like spam and they are only getting smarter about these things. What may not be able to be detected today as unethical link building, may be penalized tomorrow. Try to create links in a natural and organic way. This is what the search engines like to see.

Paid links is something that people have many different views on. Google’s view is that they don’t like it, so don’t do it. If you buy links, they want you to buy them from Google. This is essentially what Adwords is. Adwords is Google’s PPC advertising platform where you bid on keywords that show up either along side of search results or on sites in the Adsense network. If you do buy links form a site owner, be careful when purchasing. Don’t be spammy and create a huge amount of link s over night. This may be caught onto buy Google, but maybe not. There’s no guarantee.

These are just some of the main ways that developers have to promote and develop websites. Some options are used by lots of people and some are not. Certain things that work for others may not work for you. The main point is, start out with something and just go for it. If you don’t have your own site, that’s the first step. Get your own site up and running from a reliable web design developer.
