    Enable Quick Launch toolbar to the Taskbar in Windows 8 – [How-To Guide]


    Recently, I installed Windows 8 using USB Drive. Here is the FULL GUIDE: To install Windows 8 using USB Drive.

    After installing Windows 8, I noticed that on Desktop the Quick Launch bar in Taskbar in Windows 8 is missing. Just like it was missing with Windows 7. Here is the GUIDE to Add / Enable Quick Launch on Windows 7.

    Similarly, the below GUIDE / STEPS will enable you to Add Quick Launch toolbar on taskbar in Windows 8

    How to Add/Enable Quick Launch Bar to the Taskbar in Windows 8

    1. Navigate to Windows 8 Desktop.
    2. launch Windows Explorer with Windows + E shortcut key.

    3. Click on the View tab on the toolbar and check the box next to “Hidden items”.

    4. Now go back to desktop and right-click on the the taskbar area and select Toolbars–>New Toolbar.

    5. Now enter the %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch path and select it.

    6. Now you can see Quick Launch toolbar on the right of the taskbar.

    7. I always like it to be on the left hand side. If you want then, right-click the taskbar and uncheck “Lock the Taskbar” and drag to the right.
    8. You will also start seeing “Show Desktop” button which was missing from the Windows 8 Taskbar.
