    Much awaited Android 5.0 known as Lollipop will be released in November 2014. Android 5.0 has been released on November 3rd, 2014 on Motorola’s Nexus 6 and HTC’s Nexus 9.

    Before calling it as Lollipop it was called as Android L.

    Android 5.0 Lollipop Release Date

    On the 3rd of November 2014, Google began pushing the source code for Android Lollipop onto the Git at Google Source page, signifying that Lollipop 5.0 had been released for general availability. Manufacturers can now start working on the 5.0 update for their respective flagships, while Google’s own Nexus line of smartphones and tablets will begin to receive the OTA update in a couple of weeks. The factory images are expected to be uploaded in a few days time.

    Android 5.0 Lollipop Features

    1. One of the most prominent changes in the Lollipop release is a redesigned user interface built around a responsive design language referred to as “material design”
    2. Another major change Notification System which will change the way notifications are shown.
    3. Platform changes which will use Android Runtime (ART) officially replacing Dalvik for improved application performance.
    4. “Project Volta” are a series of optimizations which will lead to Better Battery Life which will increase the batter life which is a very good news for all android users.
