The number on that widget is the number of visitors/readers currently on this site.

It is a great widget. I have been using it since December 2007.

What is who.amung.us?

whos.amung.us was created to bring you innovative web stats. We are not traditional. Page views are too easy to count. Instead, our widgets tell you how many users are on your website or blog right now, what pages they are on, how many of them there has been in the past, and where they come from – live.

I had already mentioned about this widget Who’s on your Site – Find on World Map in Real time. If you are new to this widget then i suggest you check the above mentioned post. It shows how to who.amung.us widget for your own website or blog.

Let me now focus on the main topic. Some 14 hours back i think Amung.us has updated the whole look of the website. Below is the screenshot of who.amung.us web stats of this website.

If you check my previous post that i mentioned above and compare the image above, you can see that the whole look has changed.

What’s new on who.amung.us web stats site?

• Dashboard page (check the above screenshot as a reference) where you can see a graph showing the number of users online during the past 24 hours. Below that you will see a section on the left showing Number of people on each page along with urls where they are. It also shows Where they come from using a globe map which in on the right hand side.
• Readers page shows the list of the most popular pages, with the number of people on each page. You can view it in two ways, Recent or Grouped. Check the options listed below which is inside a Red rectangle.

• Maps page shows a map showing you where your visitors come from. Flashing pins are people that are online right now. In this section you can see the map in total four ways Normal, Head Map, Clustor and Day Night map. Check the options listed below which is inside a Red rectangle.

• History page shows a graph of visitors you have had over the last day or month or year or 5 years and the graph can be plotted using lines graph or bar graph. Check the options listed below which is inside a Red rectangle.

I suggest every blogger should put this widget in their website. I am using from last 10 months.

ClickTale – Record – Watch – Understand :

ClickTale is different with the traditional web analytics. It provides information about individual visitor’s behavior. This is a must for those who want to analyze their visitor’s activities on the website. With this you can actually find out what visitors does as soon as they land on your website. With this data you can fine tune your website and make changes.

ClickTale offers both free and paid plan. I am subscribed to the free plan. Under free plan, you can do 100 recordings per week. You can check the pricing page for paid plan. I would suggest first you get a free plan see how it goes if you like it and want more recordings then go for a paid plan.

I actually wanted to upload my site recording uploaded in youtube so that you can check it here. But just now found out that my recordings are deleted because i have logged into the site after a long time

Most of the bloggers / webmasters use some kind of tool to keep track of visitors.

I am using StatCounter, Google Analytics and a very interesting and exciting widget by Amung.us.

Following are the two widgets i use and i am sure that everybody who reads this post will start using it on thier blog/site

1) Who Widget : whos.amung.us

I started using whos.amung.us widget from December 2007. It is a nice small widget that shows the current users online. Check below.

2) Map Widget : map.amung.us

My Site’s map:

The interesting feature are :

• The Stars on the map show the locations from where the visitors have visited the site.
• The circles that have small ripples indicate active users.
• As soon as you see a circle with a ripple created it means a new visitor has visited your blog or site.

It is really a great widget.
