Google Gear is a extension for Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers that allows to navigate on compatible websites offline and synchronize when going back online.

Today, Google has rolled out a new Gmail feature called "Gmail offline functionality". With this feature, Gmail users with Google Gears installed can access Gmail in offline mode (i.e when not connected to the Internet). Most of us might have been observed that Gmail has introduced themes to get a new look to Gmail. I think most of them are now bored of Gmail with same old look (sky blue color).

You can now switch to one of the 30 themes available through the Themes settings.

I was surprised to see this yesterday evening when i opened my mail box.

You can change your Gmail themes through your Settings page:

  • Just look on the top right corner. you will see Themes link.
  • Select one of the themes to change the look of your Gmail

Gears for Safari is now officially available

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

For all savvy mac users... Google has released Gears for Safari Browser.

Gears for Safari!

Gears for Safari!

To use Gears, you must have version 3.1.1 or higher of Safari along with a machine running the most recent build of OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5.3 (Leopard).

It offers the same offline-goodness as its Windows counterpart, which is to say you'll get limited offline file access and optimization on the handful of Web applications that support it.

The bad news is Gears is still not available for Windows version of Safari.

It is good news for all Mac users who blog on Wordpress platform because Google gears is supported by Wordpress.
